- Pomerene, Arizona - Gammons Gulch Old West Town with plenty to see ranging from the 1880s to the 1930s. This is a re-created town, but some of the buildings are original. There are old cars and trucks, even a 1955 Ward LaFrance fire
engine. This location has been used for filming and many other activities, even star in your
own movie!! Different items in the town have been rented to some of the most popular
movies such as "Tombstone". Tour the town, sit back and have a "Beer" (Root Beer that is) and enjoy a brief spell in your life where you can go back to the good old days. [Joanne Gammons, 08/16/2001]Gammons Gulch - Movie Set and Museum:

Willcox, Arizona - A&W Root Beer Statues I found most of the A&W Root Beer family residing here at Carter's
Drive-In. Papa and Mama Burger are in back next to the outdoor seating area. Teen Burger
stands out front by the entrance, and the mechanism that makes him spin back and forth
still works. Didn't see Baby Burger, unfortunately. Carter's used to actually be an A&W
stand, and the statues have been there for years. [Dean Jeffrey, 07/12/2002]
Costa Mesa, California - A&W Root Beer Family - Papa Burger At one of my favorite breakfast spots, the Costa Mesa Omelette Parlor, they have a "Papa Burger" statue in the entry way to the restaurant. The 'Papa Burger' statue is one of the A&W Root Beer family members, but this one has been modified from its original form. Blond hair has been painted on, and the eyes and mouth have been modified. Also, what used to be a mug of A&W root beer has been painted to resemble a mug of beer.
I was told by one of the employees that the statue has been there since the restaurant opened in 1983. At Christmas time they have a giant Santa hat they put on him. [Greg Kopp, 04/01/2009]
Papa Burger - A&W Root Beer Family:

Hours: June 2010 - reported closed, moving.- Costa Mesa, California - Not a Big Boy - A Root Beer Man There is a molded caricature figure of a stout man, with a
disproportionately large head, about 7 feet tall, holding a foaming mug of
[root?] beer in his right hand at waist level, and hoisting a plated
hamburger skyward with his extended left arm. The one I can locate right
away is in the lobby of the Chester Drawers Inn in Costa Mesa, CA and I have
seen at least one other somewhere in the state. I know the statue is
definitely not a Bob's Big Boy. [Bill Wright, 07/22/2001][RA: It is almost certainly a "Root Beer Man," variations found in several spots around the country. The originals were created by International Fiberglass.]
