Shoe House Take the time to make a stop and take the tour! Lovingly restored and decorated, the owner says she and her husband still occasionally stay here. It inspires the imagination to think that a savvy businessman conceived of the house and was able to realize his creative vision.
You can have an ice cream and get delightful souvenirs in the gift shop. Pictures aren't allowed inside, but if they were, you wouldn't be as tempted to stop...which is worth the drive!

Haines Shoe House Not only is the house like a shoe -- the mailbox and dog house also are done the same way. This was an easy place to find. You wont see it from the main road but once you are off the main road it's right out in the open.

Shoe House The World's Largest Shoe House in Hellam, Pennsylvania, got some spring back in its step on September 26, 2007, with the help of Hampton Hotels Save-A-Landmark program. In an estimated 84-hour restoration effort, nearly 20 employee volunteers cleaned, primed and painted the five-story work boot; restored its historic stain glass windows; painted the Shoe House's fence; and contributed nearly $20,000 to the Shoe House's ongoing care.
As part of the restoration, Hampton partnered with Soles4Souls -- a non-profit organization that collects and distributes shoes for those in need -- in asking community members to put their best foot forward by donating their gently used shoes.
