Maine Giantess
Sylvia Hardy was born in Wilton in 1824. In her early forties she became friends with Tom Thumb and his wife Lavinia, who often visited Wilton. The Thumbs traveled with P.T. Barnum's circus, and persuaded Sylvia to join them. She spent twelve years on the road. There is now a likeness of her along with her story in the Wilton Farm and Home Museum.
