Winged "Fame" props up a dying Rebel soldier. It's considered to be one of the Confederacy's most artistic monuments. Mrs. Stonewall Jackson attended its dedication on May 10, 1909. Moved to its current cemetery spot in July 2021.

Go during the early morning hours and you should have no problem avoiding cars so you can read the statue's interesting inscription.

The statue is in the median with little to no room to walk around it. There's also a stop light in very close proximity to it, so it's tough to get photos. I thought it was worth the stop though!

The statue was erected in 1909 as a very belated tribute to Confederate fatalities, who had all been dead for at least 44 years. It was removed on July 5, 2020.
