Visitor Tips and News About Muffler Man - Sergio
Muffler Man at Automobile Alley garage.[Frank Picard, 01/07/2012]
Stopped by to see Paul Bunyan on a quiet saturday afternoon. He still stands at this auto repair shop behind the iron fence, wearing his checkered shirt. It doesn't look like he has had a paint job or a cleaning since he was first reported. However he has acquired a nice collection of tools, parts and spray cans at his feet as well as a small sculpture of a lion.[Joel Baker, 08/02/2011]
Saw a Paul Bunyan, possibly of the Muffler Man variety, while driving down Cesar Chavez Blvd. in Los Angeles last week (2/12/97). About 25 feet tall, in front of some sort of auto garage, possibly a tire place. Didn't have time to check for the hand up/hand down configuration. Looked very similar to the 35 ft. Bunyan here in Portland, OR.[Wink Junior, 02/22/1997]
Wink Junior's tip led to the pursuit and capture of another Muffler Man by the Roadside team. Turned out to be on Mission, 1 block North of Cesar Chavez, NE of downtown LA, and a half-mile south of the LA County Coroner's Gift shop. It's a Bunyan, all right, but with some Latin machismo. Here's a full view through the east LA-style siege fence. [March 29, 1997]
