Merced, California - Muffler ManThe Muffler Man of Merced is still standing tall. My family and I made a trip down there to see him. We had to tell you! [Jason shultz, 01/02/2007]
Merced, California - Muffler ManThe Muffler Man of Merced is still there. His right hand has worsened since the last poster wrote. He is chained to a pole. His head has some damage but is no longer wobbling. His shirt is now a light red / pink due to the weather. He is complete, but he has seen better days. [Gregorio, 05/15/2006]
Merced, California - Muffler ManThe Muffler Man in is alive and reasonably well. The storm mentioned previously has taken its toll, however; the fiberglass on his right hand has been exposed and his head wobbles in the breeze. As there is a large crack ringing his neck I surmise the the storm decapitated him; a large bolt in his forehead and some guy wires seem to help control his third-martini nod. Also of interest on the site is an old wooden outhouse which bears the notice that it is "Y2K compliant." [Blake H. Lindsey, 05/15/2005]
Merced, California - Muffler man - "Farmer Bud"We also have a muffler man here at the Ag Museum (the main road going to Yosemite National Park). I have enclosed a picture of Farmer Bud. He used to stand at a wrecking yard in town. [Betty Madsen, 05/25/2001]
Merced, California - Muffler ManActually, the location is correct, but the facility he is guarding is not --- it's actually a seasonal fruit and vegetable stand, and an agriculture farm equipment museum he watches over.
He used to actually hold a large MALLET, with a big Muffler Man Sized RAT under him, and was used in a display a pest control company had... He retired and moved to the more rural location off of hwy 140 about 7 years ago... But I want to know where the RAT went off to... [Dan Ross, Paranoid MufflerMan Tracking Agent, 04/04/1999]
