Muffler Man The Muffler Man of Merced is still standing tall. My family and I made a trip down there to see him. We had to tell you!

Muffler Man The Muffler Man of Merced is still there. His right hand has worsened since the last poster wrote. He is chained to a pole. His head has some damage but is no longer wobbling. His shirt is now a light red / pink due to the weather. He is complete, but he has seen better days.
[Gregorio, 05/15/2006]The Muffler Man in is alive and reasonably well. The storm mentioned previously has taken its toll, however; the fiberglass on his right hand has been exposed and his head wobbles in the breeze. As there is a large crack ringing his neck I surmise the the storm decapitated him; a large bolt in his forehead and some guy wires seem to help control his third-martini nod. Also of interest on the site is an old wooden outhouse which bears the notice that it is "Y2K compliant."

Muffler Man A friend and I were driving out of Merced on our way to Yosemite National Park when I spotted a Muffler Man looming over an agriculture equipment museum. Squealing with glee, I slammed on my brakes and went back to examine him. Right hand up and left hand down. Prominent jaw, penetrating evil gaze. The trademark signs of International Fiberglass Company! He had white pants and a red shirt, with a painted on Fu-manchu moustache.
