Oceanside, California - 101 Cafe - Highway 101 Museum We stopped at the 101 Cafe after visiting the giant windmill in Carlsbad. The food was great, classic diner food! And the decor was straight out of the '50s. They didn't have carhop service when we visited. [Greg Kopp, 04/08/2009]
Oceanside, California - 101 Cafe - Highway 101 Museum The oldest Cafe on US Highway 101 on the entire West Coast. Built in 1928 this sixty seat restaurant has only been remodeled twice since opening. The last time in 1954 when it was upgraded into a "Modern Drive-In" complete with classic overhang. And yes carhops on roller skates. The Cafe has retained its classic look and touts itself as the "Highway 101 Museum." Open every day from 6:30 AM till midnight except Christmas. Great food, classic tunes and the friendliest waitresses -- it is the place to go to relive your highway cruising experience.
