The Chabot Space and Science Center is designed to appeal to kids, and its space-skew is noticeably forward -- getting young people excited about colonizing Mars -- rather than backward and historical. The Moon was so 1960s....

Still, a couple of exhibits in the Center acknowledge the Space Race years. There's a Mercury capsule where kids can sit, and a real Moon rock, 3.3 million years old, brought back to Earth by Apollo 15, and now sealed inside a bolted-down, bulletproof plexiglass pyramid.
