Posted hours: Sunrise to Sunset. Directions: Turn left in Main Street in the town of Niland at the grocery store. Follow the road and cross the R/R tracks. Soon you will see the painted mountain in the distance. Stop and follow the yellow brick road for a special view.[Joe Kleinsmith, 03/25/2017]
A historical plaque was added to the site on April 23, 2016 by the local chapter of E Clampus Vitus.
As far as roadside attractions go, Salvation Mountain may take the cake (my 4-year old actually called it a "giant cake"). Make a point to stop by this random spot in the middle of nowhere and meet the nicest people and the most odd 27-year project ever![Mike Larson, 07/06/2014]
